Hi we are Chay Su and Rika Lin from Taiwan. We both majored in communication design in college, and love hunting for new possibilities in life. We are constantly employing design as the medium to realize our crazy imagination into realness.

One afternoon, wandering around the city, we were looking at the window displays of different stores, and started imagining “if only we could create our own bags which are beautiful and yet in our style?” With that in mind, we started sketching and suddenly an idea came about, “hey, wouldn’t it be great if 2D illustrations could turn into real bags?” We decided to render “perspective” in our handbag design, and then JumpFromPaper came alive.

Everything, anything can be inspirational! We love cartoons, comic books, animations, and comedy manga, such as Super Radical Gag Family. These are all very popular in Asia and are all part of our inspirations for JumpFromPaper. While our cultural origin is not apparent in the bags, our mindsets and design concepts are often influenced by the local cultures. Taiwan is a small island where people embrace diversified cultures. All of these are interactive and help shape up our design.

We both engage in the whole process from the beginning till the end – laughing out at each other’s quirky and funny designs, or even just eating cookies and getting fat together. Basically we do all the work together. For instance, we would get together to talk about the key elements and themes of our new collection. After the theme is determined, we
would each sketch 10-20 drafts and discuss what we regard as interesting, good designs to be executed. It’s always been a two way street.

We are continuously making our effort in both design development and improvement on current styles. Both of us are full of crazy ideas all the time, new styles and new lines of products are constantly flying around. Humor is always the “must” design element, because we hope to create something that could bring surprises and laughs to people’s lives.
JumpFromPaper will continue to release new styles, new lines of products every once awhile. We don’t set limits, stay tuned, anything can happen!

We hope to see people all over the world happily enjoying the journey with their JumpFromPaper, and will continuously create something that could bring surprises and laughs to people’s lives.
