Recently, we got to speak with Clariz Marielle, the Youtuber from Vienna, Austria, who started making her own video back in 2012, Clariz went through a lot of self-recognition, by lmitate her favorite Youtuber to the time she feels like Youtube is not her thing and finally find the way back to just being herself, find out more about Clariz in this exclusive interview with JumpFromPaper.
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
My name is Clariz, l am 19 years old and l am currently living in Vienna Austria. lf could describe myself in three words it would be: creative, dreamer, and optimistic(but cries easily)l love making youtube videos, creating art, makeup and frozen yogurt.
You currently live in Austria, but you are a 100% Filipino, can you tell us about this special background about you?
Yes, l am 100% Filipino, but l was born here in Vienna Austria. l can speak Tagalog fluently because my parents never spoke German with me. l am really happy about that!!
Filipinos are kind hearted and family oriented people. Their hospitality and happiness will blow you away but growing up with two cultures can be a big struggle.l am proud to be Filipino, but sometimes l find it hard to find the perfect balance be-tween the two cultures l grew up with.
How did you get started your youtube channel?
Youtube is my main source of entertainment and l’ve always wanted to be part of it. One of my favorite content creators back then was Bethany Mota. She was one of my biggest inspirations, because of her bubbly and happy personality.
In 2012 my parents gifted me my first DSLR camera for my videos. And that is when l started my channel.
What was your first vlog post?
I posted my first video on Youtube in 2012. lt was a back to school DlY (Do lt Your-self), where l embellished pencils, a notebook, and paper clips. l was really into having cute school supplies before l came back to school. (https://www.you-tube.com/watch?v=1ulkldxbmh8)
How has your vlogging changed since you got started?
I started making videos 2012. There was a huge problem though. l changed myself in front of the camera and tried to act like my favorite YouTubers. l forced myself into seeming very very happy and bubbly all the time. Also, l tried to be funny, but lam naturally a very unfunny person so that was pretty cringy. l thought that that was the only way to be successful on youtube.
I had many video ideas and tried to film them, but somehow l felt very awkward andforced. That’s when l decided to quit trying because l thought youtube was not for me.
Four years (2016) later l gave it another shot. l realized that l should just be myself and as long as l like the content l upload, their people who are going to enjoy it too. I am still not fully comfortable talking to a camera, but l think l have improved. This time l am not trying to be like somebody else and it is going great so far. People like my videos, even though l am not the loudest, happiest and smiliest person on youtube.
Now l make videos mainly about things that interest me/l like talking about. Currently,l make beauty, fashion, story time and opinion videos.
Who inspires you in vlogging or your personal style?
Jbunzie inspires me. She puts so much effort into her videos, loves the way she edits and the quality of her content.
And as for style inspiration… l do not think l have one. When l go shopping l just buy whatever looks cute to me. But l also get easily influenced by trends. At the moment I love off the shoulder tops.
When do you feel the most creative?
A few weeks before it is my anniversary with my boyfriend l start crafting a box full of the things he loves. l write down his favorite TV shows, video games, animes and movies and make stuff for him for a full week straight. Last time l sculpted a “Game of Thrones” Throne, designed a hoodie and recreated the “Death Note” for him.Working on these things for a week made me so happy and fulfilled. Every day l woke up very excited to create things.l just love creating. (https://9gag.com/-gag/aERqMpo?ref=ios.s.cp)
Also whenever l find a new artist/actor l love l start to draw their portraits and l post them on my art lG (https://www.instagram.com/clarizdraws/)
