Who inspires you? Who is your secret lover on Instagram?
People l come across on the daily, in person or online. Sadly, being inspired doesn’t necessarily equate to the reality of my life.My secret lover on Instagram is probably@taipeifoodie-she just doesn’t know it! Her food posts keep me up late at night.
How do you keep up with social media?
Memes.
Which do you prefer: Instagram, Tumblr, Twitter, or Facebook?
I’ve had an obsessive Tumblr phase before, but it’d definitely have to be Instagram. It’s like a glam, exaggerated and exciting version of Facebook for people who don’t want to read.l also, have less relatives stalk me on Insta than on Facebook.
How does being Taiwanese influence your style?
There are so many stylish people out and about in Taiwan with such a diverse range of styles. Loads of up and coming designers as well! l personally shop quite a bit at night markets and independent boutiques whenever l go back to Taipei, so my closet is dotted with stuff that’s hard to find elsewhere or after a particular style season. l also take pride in the wide variety of cute animal socks and dinky accessories l own, thanks to Taiwanese street vendors.
What’s the best lie you’ve ever told?
I’m not sure if l’ve gotten away with it yet!!!! l am a terrible liar to be fair.
What’s your best ever night out?
Every Thursday, “Your Mum’s House” at The Nest in Dalston. Solid night.
You’re also the founder of @vscobeijing, what’s the story behind the account?
I started the @vscobeijing account in my final year of high school. At the time, the Instagram community in Beijing, although large, was fairly inactive. l’d been a loyal user of VSCOCam-l still am!- and seen similar accounts in different cities. l had a lot of love for the city that had been my home for 5 years, and l wanted people around the world to see Beijing through the eyes of local Instagrammers, refined with VSCO’s beautiful filters l was also particularly inspired by my friend Eason Hsiung who founded @iseetaiwan and later @instameettaiwan, so reached out to him about his experience with establishing those. l can’t believe how much the ac-count and its accompanying hashtag has grown over the past two years, and how positive engagement has been!
Any exciting things coming up?
Dinner!!!!!
Last but not least, everybody loves Taiwanese food, which do you miss the most?
Oh my god, don’t get me started! The list is endless. But what l always end up craving is Dintaifung.I’m still patiently waiting for it to come to London.
